Thrive means to prosper and flourish. And that’s exactly what we want for all our Gold’s Gym SoCal members, which is why we’re excited to announce our newest workout program is available at our newest location. First launched at Gold’s Gym La Mirada last year, THRIVE can now be found at Gold’s Gym Northridge and will be coming to more locations in the future. So what’s THRIVE and what makes it different?

From here, we’re going to turn it over to Troy Richardson, the vice president of fitness services for Gold’s Gym SoCal, who, with the help of his fantastic team, oversees all things fitness, personal training, group exercise, group training, and industry partnerships. He’s also our THRIVE expert.

WHAT IS THRIVE?

THRIVE is a semi-private personal training program. This means your trainer will be there with you on your fitness journey every step of the way while you’re executing the program in a small group setting. Your trainer will help you set and achieve your goals as you’d expect from one-on-one training.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT WHEN YOU JOIN THE PROGRAM?

You’ll go through your program in a 2,000-square-foot space designed specifically for THRIVE. This is where your trainer will coach you through workouts that focus on building flexibility, mobility, strength, and endurance. I know it sounds like a lot, but it’s beautifully designed by some of the best minds in the fitness industry with over 40 years of experience training professional athletes and general fitness enthusiasts. It’s definitely one of those things you need to experience for yourself, which is why we're offering two free sessions of THRIVE to give you an idea of what you can achieve when you join the program.

HOW LONG IS EACH THRIVE SESSION?

Each session lasts an hour. It starts off with a nice warmup using Theraguns and foam rollers for soft tissue work, then moves to a full warmup with stretching and mobility work. The strength portion of the workout comes next and it’s what you’ll spend most of your time doing. We wrap it up with interval cardiovascular training for endurance. Each session will be designed to build on your previous workout for measurable progress.

WHAT MAKES THRIVE DIFFERENT FROM TRADITIONAL GROUP FITNESS?

The biggest difference is the personalized accountability and encouragement you’ll get during your training. Group exercise instructors aren’t going to text and call you to find out how your experience was in the last session. Your trainers will also program workouts for “off days” when you’re not with them, but still want to do safe and effective training on your own.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM BEST SUITED FOR?

Everyone. And I mean EVERYONE. Whether you’re an athlete or someone far removed from an injury who wants to get back after it. Our trainers are equipped to work with people from all walks of life and to meet you wherever you happen to be on your fitness journey.

SO WE'VE TALKED ABOUT WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WORK WITH OUR THRIVE TRAINERS, BUT WHAT ABOUT BECOMING ONE?

To become a THRIVE trainer, you simply need a nationally accredited personal training certification or you can apply via our website. We have a very vigorous onboarding process to ensure our new trainers fully understand our philosophy and approach to helping our clients. Experience is always welcome, but not necessary! If you get excited when you see others reach heights they didn’t think were possible, then you have most of what it takes to be a THRIVE trainer. The workplace is a blast too! It’s a professional fitness party from the moment you become part of the team. The amount of practical education we deliver is second to none. With an excellent compensation package to go along with the incredible experience, you’ll be able to grow into your passion and profession.

 Troy RichardsonABOUT TROY RICHARDSON

You already know Troy is the vice president of fitness services at Gold’s Gym SoCal, but here are a few other things you should know about him. He just celebrated his third anniversary of moving to sunny California, but he’s still a Philly guy through and through, which makes him a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. He enjoys watching and playing football. On Saturdays, you’ll catch him doing a lot of reading. And most importantly, he’s a phenomenal dancer. You should probably ask him to prove it if you see him around the gym.
