Forget sweat and soreness, one of the hardest parts of working out is actually getting to the gym! According to researchers, your brain avoids important tasks like exercising by visualizing the worst parts. That's why you, like a lot of people, use objections to workouts as excuses.
You're busy. Most of the time, it feels like you're too busy for any kind of self-care, especially if it requires going somewhere. Working out is definitely worth the time, even if your schedule is packed.
Solutions for this Excuse:
Don't waste precious minutes getting ready—pack your bag ahead of time. Also, keep in mind that it is recommended you work out about 200 minutes a week (that's ONLY about 4 episodes of most TV shows!)
Solutions for this Excuse:
When it feels like you just can't- go anyway. Start with stretching, yoga, or something else that is low-impact. You'll find yourself feeling more awake in no time.
It can feel overwhelming to start going to the gym if it's been a while (or if you've never been.) But it's never too late! The only way to get in shape is to exercise. We all start somewhere.
Solutions for this Excuse:
Don't go alone. Take a fitness class or work with a personal trainer. Even just one session will help you find a plan to get momentum.
If you aren't a fan of your workout, it's no surprise when you don't want to go to the gym. You're more likely to reach your goals if you enjoy your workout.
Solutions for this Excuse:
Try something new. Bring a workout playlist you love. Find a friend to exercise with. There are all sorts of things you can do to make working out more fun.
Not having a plan can make gym time frustrating and tedious. You waste time and energy when you try to figure it out as you go.
