Alright locals, the tourists’ summer is winding down. Now’s the time to show off your sexy body at one of the best beaches in LA. The shore and boardwalks won’t be as crowded, but the sun’s still shining and you’re still too hot to stay out of the water (pun completely intended.)
It’d be a shame to keep your beach body physique all to yourself. You work hard to have that toned, sculpted look! These beaches are the best in LA for showing displaying your suave self while enjoying your favorite coastal pastimes:
VENICE BEACH
Ocean Front Walk
Venice Beach, CA 90291
Where to Park: City parking is located right along the beach and is typically $4-$15 per day.
What Not to Miss: Venice Beach, AKA Muscle Beach, is where Gold’s Gym started. The fantastic boardwalk appeals to colorful characters, celebrities, bodybuilders, fitness models, and California’s best-looking locals. If you love to people watch (or attract gazes!) the boardwalk is a must.
HERMOSA BEACH
Pier Ave and Hermosa Ave
Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
Where to Park: Use the parking structure just north of the pier or park along Hermosa Avenue for a small fee.
What Not to Miss: One of the mellowest beaches in LA, Hermosa Beach is a great place to show off your ripped swimmer physique on a surfboard. The beach stretches for almost two miles so there’s plenty of space to paddle in peace. You’ll also want to be inspired by the Surfer’s Walk of Fame on Hermosa Pier before you flaunt your own wave riding skills.
SANTA MONICA
Coast Highway
Santa Monica, CA 90405
Where to Park: City lots are located all over Santa Monica within walking distance of the pier and beach. Pay $6 to $15 per day.
What Not to Miss: Santa Monica Beach is an icon for a reason. If you can think of an activity fit for beach fun, it’s there. The pier has an amusement park and aquarium, plus plenty of restaurants to choose from. It’s the perfect place to spend a casual day at the beach.
BILLIONAIRES BEACH
22126 Pacific Coast Highway
Malibu, CA 90265
Where to Park: Public parking lines the highway for free, but be careful not to block driveways.
What Not to Miss: Technically named Carbon Beach, this Malibu slice of paradise is lined with the homes of –you guessed it- billionaires. Notably, resident David Geffen fought to keep the public off this beach. It backfired. The beach is now popular for strolling the sand while (celebrity) star gazing and showing off.
EL MATADOR BEACH
32200 Pacific Coast Highway
Malibu, CA 90265
Where to Park: It’s hard to miss the signs for parking lots along the highway in Malibu, so keep your eyes open and have a little money on hand for the fees.
What Not to Miss: Near scenic Malibu, El Matador Beach is a hot spot for Oceanside photography. You’ll find natural formations, bluffs, lookouts, caves, and plenty of shoreline to accentuate your sexy body in selfie shots.
EL PORTO BEACH
45th Street and The Strand
Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
Where to Park: The main entrance to the beach parking lot is off 45th Street and extends all the way to Rosecrans Ave.
What Not to Miss: Less a beach for lounging and more a hotspot for playing around, El Porto Beach has space for volleyball, biking, skating, and running. Surfing is also pretty popular here. All your advanced HIIT training will make the added challenge of playing around in the sand and the surf a breeze.
One of the things we love about LA is how long the summer lasts. Once the tourists are on their way out the beach is more accessible for supplementing your workout with outdoor activity. Take advantage of the sunny space by pushing your bodybuilding routine to its full potential in the sand and the Pacific.
